The Under-12s battle to earn a 4-2 win vs Whitchurch United Youth FC

Our Under 12’s traveled up to Whitchurch for their latest match on Saturday, and with the pitch in pristine condition, everything was set up for a good game of football.

Both teams struggled to build any momentum early on, but it was Whitchurch who broke the deadlock. Even in 24 plus degree heat both teams were up for the game and it went end to end very often with some good football being played.

In the 29th minute, we found a leveller, with Isla Ripley getting on the end of a pass from Ava Beard to calmly slot a shot from left side of the box into the top corner. But the half wasn't quite finished and it was again Isla Ripley who bagged her 2nd on the stroke of half time with another great pass out wide to her from Emma Hicks.

We headed into the interval leading by two goals to one.

The 2nd half started in the same vain as the first, with action either end of the pitch. It was energy sapping stuff in the heat, but Whitchurch retook the lead on 38 minutes.

It didn’t last long however, as Ava Beard drove to the edge of the box and slotted the ball into the back of the net on 43 minutes.

With the heat intensifying, a water break was needed for both teams

Having equalised for the 2nd time, the girls now had the bit between their teeth. They patiently moved the ball around, waiting for an opening.

On 58 minutes Tilly Goodman took one touch on the edge of the box and struck the ball into the back of the net. 3-2!

However, it wasn't over yet and the girls went after the ball again. Tilly Goodman was again on the end of a cross from Ava Beard and she slotted the ball into the back of the net once again for her brace as well.

The whistle blew to seal a magnificent comeback victory for the girls, which keeps our fine recent form going. Player of the match went to Tilly Goodman.
