Southampton return to League action this weekend with an away trip to Portishead.

The two sides have met many times in recent years, the last being a 3-2 win to Southampton at The Racecourse Ground.

Oceana Adams netted a brace on the day and Meg Wood completed the scoring for the Sirens.

This season, Portishead are currently sitting seventh in the League table and have had a variety of scores so far - three close draws in the League, an 8-1 loss to Exeter City in the FAWNL Cup, and an 8-0 loss to AFC Bournemouth last week in the FAWNL Plate.

Southampton are on an upwards climb, having started the season later than other teams.

Last Sunday’s FAWNL Cup tie against Moneyfields saw a successful performance from the Sirens, despite the loss.

The new team held off Moneys for sixty minutes, before ex-Siren Britt Jeal scored two goals in quick succession, then Charley Wilson-Wilton netted the third.

“[We] had a really good performance against Moneyfields,” First Team manager James Lally said this week.

“We knew what to expect out of them, we knew it was going to be difficult for us. Given the amount of time we’ve had together, the performance [and] what we achieved on the day, I’m really really happy about it.”

With regards to facing Portishead this weekend, Lally said: “It’s another chance for us to get to know each other more and work on a bit more. We’ll see what we can get out of the game.”
